Châteauponsac
'Jewel of the Gartempe', a characteristic old city situated along once of the secondary pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostella. The original vilage, the old quarters of 'Du Moustier', with picturesque houses dating from the 15th century, has stunning views on the Gartempe. The Limousin, famous for its forests and lakes, is one of the least populated areas of France. Châteauponsac is surrounded by countryside and has no less then 5 walking paths leaving from the village, with distances from 6 tot 27 km's. The 'Route des Narcisses', which leads along Clos Dentelle, takes you along the Gartempe. In springtime the boards are colored blue from the bluebells. Around 1st of may the deliciously smelling wild daffodils are in flower. In june it's pink with foxgloves.
